Strolling Smith Street

Brooklyn-Cobble Hill

We try to do something unique at Regular Visitors and we love frequenting our neighbors who are also working to bring a unique experience to their business. This guide makes for a great afternoon exploring Smith Street between Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill.

Regular Visitors is, as the name proclaims, a spot for regulars that aims to be an innately practical corner store offering a newsstand, a coffee counter, and apothecary as well as housewares and yet a unique and delightful destination as well. A corner store alternative to big-box retailers that would serve the needs of the neighborhood and offer something uplifted at the same time.

Bar Tabac imparts vibrant energy to the Cobble Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn and compliments Smith Street’s bohemian spirit. The colorful corner storefront embodies the spirit of the tabacs in France, the ubiquitous small storefronts and annexes in bars that sell lottery tickets, chewing gum, and of course, tobacco. Bar Tabac may not actually sell tobacco, but the lively camaraderie and antique 1960’s bar conspire to compose a unique place that is authentically French but delightfully local.

The restaurant has live jazz four times a week, storied weekend brunches and irresistible Bistro Bites. Guests return again and again to enjoy themselves in the lively bar, or to spend an intimate evening in the back room amidst the glow of candles illuminated under the atrium skylight.
