Behind the brand
Eva Karayiannis
Founder and Director

Eva launched Caramel in 1999. Originally a lawyer, Eva moved from Athens, Greece to the UK to study art history at Sotheby’s. Soon after, she leaned in to her individual style and created a children's wear brand because she felt the category hadn't evolved. At a time when people were really starting to include their children more in their lives, to spend money on them, her approach to dressing them in a more fashion forward way has found a faithful following ever since.

Caramel began as a stockist of kids’ clothes from small, independent, artisan designers from London, the Cotswolds and even as far as Peru. Eva ran the company from her living room and kitchen, before eventually opening a bricks-and-mortar store in Brompton Cross.

Today the brand has boutiques around the world still offering understated luxury children's items, employing only the finest quality materials, enormous attention to detail, an unflinching way with color, and unique prints which produce modern classics every season.

Dimitri Pauli
Founder & Partner

The cafe named for Saint Ambrogio — the patron saint of Milan was originally opened in 1936 by two pastry chefs who set out to create a welcoming and vibrant cafe that would become a meeting place for local intelligentsia. Even then, the restaurant was known for perfectly crafted cappuccino and an elegant dinning room. Hans Pauli brought the restaurant to New York City opening in 1983. Today the restaurant group is run by Hans' son Dimitri Pauli and his business partner Gherardo Guarducci.

Sant Ambroeus has been in New York City since the 1980s. Much like its original Milan location it continues to be a meeting place for locals from the world of art, fashion, publishing, banking and government. Nearly forty years after opening its doors, it's still synonymous with serving near-perfect Milanese cuisine and some of the best cappuccino New York City offers.
