Arts in Gowanus

Brooklyn-Gowanus

Gowanus Open Studios is an annual weekend event every October. Lots of artists in the area, and the doors are thrown open! Studio hop throughout the neighborhood and enjoy a great local eatery and a delicious cocktail bar to top it off. You'll get to see many amazing works such as Sean Qualls's work featured in this guide and here.

Gowanus Open Studios is a highly recommended neighborhood event held ever year in October. 300-400 local artists in the Gowanus neighborhood (and slightly beyond)  open their studio doors and welcome the public to view art, meet the artists, learn about the process of art-making.

It's always a great chance to connect with your favorite artists in the community and discover new ones!

Littleneck is definitely a neighborhood highlight. A great raw bar and delicious lobster rolls.

Local tip: that brown index-card filing box is hundreds of notes on different types of oysters! All organized alphabetically, and collaboratively contributed to. (I have a few in there myself).

Dirty Precious is a craft cocktail bar in the heart of Gowanus. We are women owned and community focused.

What other locals are saying . . ."Looooovely sunlit, loft-ceiling space. Excellent cocktails, and a female-founder who supports different causes through a rotating selection of speciality drinks. Plus you ca enjoy little nibbles and rent the back space for an open-mic, event etc. "
