Late Night at Columbus Circle

Manhattan-Midtown West

If you want to experience the raw, emotional, and entirely unrestrained side of New York City nightlife, start and end at Columbus Circle in Midtown. Combining live music entertainment, food, drink, and a relaxing walk along central park West, this outing will invigorate a passion for music, camaraderie, and life like no other. Key destinations include Central Park (Southwest), Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, and Whole Foods, all of which are located in Columbus Circle on West 60th. Of all the places I have visited in New York over the years, Columbus Circle is my homestay. I have made so many memories in Dizzy's jazz club and taken beautiful walks through Central Park's southwest entrance with scones and Health Ade Kombucha from Whole Foods in my jacket. This experience is humbling in the day time and electrifying in the nighttime. Call it a date or a night out with friends, you will always return to Columbus Circle if you visit these destinations.

Warm up your legs for a night of dancing ahead. Central Park is New York City's prize. Sit on the grass and read a book, have a picnic, or ride your bike. Shortly after entering the park you will notice a feeling of peace and quiet, allowing you to relax and reflect on the day behind you and the exciting night ahead of you. This excursion into New York's natural environment is a sobering reprieve from the concrete, industry, and noise that engulfs the city every second. Whether it be before or after the show at Dizzy's, a quick stroll through Central Park is a wonderful chance to reflect on the day's activities and plan what is ahead for tomorrow. There are opportunities to eat and drink beside the various ponds within the park, as well as fish and boat with a friend or significant other.

Tired from your walk through the park that never ends? Stop in at the Whole Foods at Columbus circle for a warm organic scone and coffee so you can go to the jazz show ready to dance. This Whole Foods has always been a go-to spot for me because of its convenient location and wonderful selection of healthy food. If you want to do some shopping afterward, go upstairs and enjoy over three levels of luxury retailers and dining. At the very least, go to the third floor and check out the view from the balcony looking out towards Columbus Circle and Central Park. It's unforgettable.

Here's where the night begins. Dizzy's Club Coca Cola. Loosen your tie, take off your heels, and unwind. Whether it's dance night or dinner night, this jazz night club is intimate, upscale, and highly cultured. It draws talent from all parts of New York City, including Juilliard School of Music graduates in jazz. This specific jazz club has Southern-accented food and drink, and one will often find themself immersed in a cultural time warp of jazz and classic American entertainment. I have forged so many wonderful relationships with people while at Dizzy's and have memories that have undoubtedly opened me to live entertainment and dance as a means of self-expression. If you are interested in beautiful views of New York accompanied by big band jazz, this is the quintessential late night destination for New York City entertainment. Always try and approach the performers after their live sets -- they're often young music professionals trying to network themselves in New York City. You never know what kind of friendships you might make from doing so.
