Recess in Prospect Park

Brooklyn-Prospect Park

The bar can be all consuming at times, and so my free time is pretty dedicated to hanging out with my partner Max and our dog Totes. We live pretty close to Prospect Park, and love to go on big walks as a pack. If we’re feeling picnic-y we’ll stop into 209 Station in Windsor Terrace and get some snacks for the park. Alternatively we’ll come back to the hood to visit Gowanus Wine Merchants and grab some new bottles to try and then cook at home.

Gowanus Wine Merchants opened in 2012 by two friends who had spent careers in wine. The shop has remained focused on buying from small distributors, and keeping a focus on Old World and natural wines, along with a few local and other premium spirits. The goal is to bring the most value to customers, offering delicious wines at reasonable prices, from the Under-$20 table to the top shelf classics. Every wine sold has been put to the taste test.
