The K-Town Experience

Manhattan-Midtown East

Koreatown or K-Town is a small ethnic area in midtown Manhattan. It extends only 2 blocks from 31st-33rd street between Broadway and 5th Avenue. Even though the area is small in size, it’s packed with restaurants and bars.

When I came to New York I had never heard of “Korean BBQ”. By now I’ve tried a few Korean BBQ restaurants, but the one that sticks out is Baekjeong. Here you choose meat and vegetables from the menu and the waiters come to your table and cook it on a small private grill situated in the middle of your table. In the meantime, a large variety of small side-snacks is served and refilled as needed. Despite the lack of my chop-stick skills I still manage to finish before everyone else. It's too tasty!

Time for beer-pong! Just one minute away is a bar called Krush. The bar has several beer-pong set-ups and after ferocious battles with random people, you often end up leaving with more friends than you came with.

K-Town is filled with karaoke bars. A 7 minute walk away is Karaoke Duet, where you can get your own private room with your friends- be they 2 or 40. Inside you’ll find microphones, large screens and a huge book with a list of the songs they have. It’s great if you don’t want to listen to random people’s singing while waiting for your turn! This place is open until 6am, so get ready to sing the night away!
