We are on a mission to serve up good drinks, good music and good times.
The music is what makes Bar Chord so special. In a given week, you can see Jazz, Funk, Cumbia, Americana, Zydeco and Salsa. Flatbush is one ofthe most diverse communities in New York City, if not the world and the music reflects the diversity of our neighborhood and patrons.

about the owners

Jonny and Christy met over 25 years ago through the East Village music scene that was having a golden moment in the early 1990’s. Jonny plays guitar, mandolin and washboard and Christy worked in music journalism and television back in the 1990’s. They wanted to open a music bar when they moved to Brooklyn in 1995 but they weren’t sure how to take the leap.

Fast forward a decade and it was still on their minds. The couple moved to Ditmas Park in 2006 and when the right spot opened up on Cortelyou Road in 2012, it was time to jump.
